Studio 4 Paws was born out of my dream to share my love of art with others. I spend a lot of my spare time creating various different forms of art, ranging from art quilting, cards and collage items, to photography. I am inspired by so many different things, large and small – all of which find their way into my studio as fuel for my next project.
I love to travel and see new places and cultures, experience new surroundings and take that experience with me to infuse it into things I create. I have travelled far and wide across this world and have been inspired by so many of the colours, sounds and textures of the world I live in that it’s only natural that this eventually influences what I make.
I have a deep love for nature and animals and in most cases this is evident in my work. Although it does not limit me from diving into something completely different, I do find I’m drawn to certain themes – cats, trees, houses, colour, humour and whimsy. Life is too chaotic not to have fun, and nothing cheers people up more than a beautiful image.
I simply love to create and have self taught myself many of my hobbies and techniques, but I do have fond memories of growing up in a household of women who knew how to sew - my mother and grandmother taught me from an early age how to use a needle, sew my own clothes and create various embroidered pieces. I have always loved fabrics of every sort and all this just came together later in life when I found myself deeply immersed in the art quilting scene.
My creative mind was also fed from an early age by a love of reading and stories that saw me constantly imagining and making things. There is rarely a time, even now in my adult life…where I’m not ‘thinking’ about what to do next. I currently work as a registered nurse but my design background originated from my studies in landscape architecture where I was able to express my creative thinking.
I focus on several areas of art, all quite different and so often spend my time alternating between various projects. I enjoy the process of creating because it give me time to refocus my mind from the hustle and bustle of my busy world, to a quieter more centred existence – it allows me to find my true self and express it to the world. And that’s why I’m here.
I work from home in a tiny studio, closely monitored by my feline friends. They inspire me, relax me and encourage me (and I’m sure sometimes laugh at my madness) and so this is how Studio 4 Paws was born.
I have recently begun selling some of my creations which has expanded my world greatly, keeping me motivated to continue to explore the things I love most. I love to meet people who are interested in similar things and I’m more than happy to hear from anyone who might want something special created just for them.
I hope you will enjoy looking at my creations and drop by again sometime soon.
